‘I, wisdom, dwell in prudence, and I find knowledge and discretion.’ (Proverbs 8: 12) Since 2017 I have completed three courses with the Aquinas Institute- Spiritual Theology (THE 390), Mariology (THE 391) and Gender Identity (THE 491). I am grateful to the professors for their generosity in presenting classes during ‘off’ hours allowing me to complete my Bachelors degree at University of Louisiana at Lafayette. I have been fed intellectually and spiritually with solid formation and have been provided with tools to go and spread the Gospel. I have encountered wisdom Incarnate in the campus location (Our Lady of Wisdom, John Paul the Great Academy), in students striving for a deeper union with God, and in teachers fleshing out our Lord Jesus Christ. I look forward to on-going formation classes and hope Wisdom continues to live and breathe in the students and faculty of AI for years to come. ‘I love those who love me, and those who seek me diligently find me.’ (Proverbs 8:17)

I began taking classes with the Aquinas Institute in the fall of 2017 because I wanted to learn more about my faith. In addition to growing my faith, I have also learned a great deal about myself and my role and responsibilities as a baptized Catholic. Through the courses of Spiritual Theology, Theology of the Body, Philosophy, Gender Identity, and one on St. Augustine, I have realized how much there is to learn about our Catholic faith and this development is a life-long process. I have also enjoyed meeting new people and acquiring beautiful friendships that have greatly helped me on my faith journey.

Before I took my first Aquinas Institute class in 2008, I enjoyed reading books on the Faith and attending conferences but I had no idea of the rich tradition of Catholic thought we possess in our Church.  The Aquinas Institute opened my eyes to this tradition of theology and philosophy, and I have never looked back.  I took eight courses with the Aquinas Institute and changed my major from Math Education to Theology.  Each course transferred to a degree path with another academic institution.  I was well prepared the for the challenges of graduate studies as I completed my MA in Theology at the University of Holy Cross in New Orleans.  The Aquinas Institute offered me great education right here in Lafayette and provided a solid foundation in further theological studies.

I am taking the course, Theology of the Consecrated Life, offered through the Aquinas Institute.  For me, thus far, it has been…an insight to the unknown - the answers to all those questions, ideas and concerns that stir the soul... an introduction to a beginning…

Aquinas Institute is a great way to start off a theology degree locally.  I have taken three Aquinas Institute classes for credit which I am now able to apply towards an Associates Degree in Theology from Franciscan University.  You learn so much about the Faith from the stellar professors.  I look forward to seeing the future of this amazing program.
